Planning a carefree wedding day can seem like a daunting task, but I assure you, it can be done!

I am lucky enough to be a part of so many amazing couples wedding days. I have seen so many great rituals and traditions formed over the years that it allows me to give advice to future couples planning their day. I’m able to provide suggestions and examples of some things my previous couples did and didn’t do. Things that worked and didn’t work.

So many of my previous couples have shared how helpful my tips were when planning their carefree wedding day.

So, I was sitting here the other day and I thought, how can I share this with everyone? Not just couples that book me for their wedding day, but all couples planning a wedding. I wish I had this list when I was planning my wedding day all those years ago!

I wanted to make it as easy as possible for couples to find this guide and get access to it. That’s why I have put it right on the front page of my website and in the about section so you can download it for free. I made it super easy to read by adding all of the tips and suggestions in list form.

Here are a few examples of what tips and suggestions you will find in the guide:

2. Be prepared for the unexpected (and go with it)
I guarantee you, something will happen on your wedding day that was either not planned or doesn’t go as planned. Go with it. Some of the best moments are from unlaid plans.”

6. Organise an engagement shoot for practice
If you’ve never had professional photos before it can feel so awkward in front of the camera. Organizing an engagement shoot can really ease tension on the day. If you aren’t interested in an engagement shoot, why not practice at home with your camera. Set your camera or phone up on the bench or on a tripod. You can be as silly as you want to be at an engagement shoot (or at home). Talk to each other, try to make each other laugh, or even cry – happy tears of course!”

13. Schedule some time to yourselves with a couples portrait session
When creating your timeline, schedule a 30min session for just the two of you. You’ll find that this alone time (with the photographer and videographer) is a nice breather, a time to catch your breath. I’ve found that the best time to do this is straight after the bridal party photos. This is where we will capture more intimate, quiet moments of the two of you before you head to the reception and the party begins.”

Did you know I am also a Maternity Photographer? I have also written a helpful blog post on how to make the most out of your maternity session. You can read it here.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop me a message if you have any feedback or know how I can make the guide better!
